Deborah Cox Wood, Ph.D., N.D., affectionately called “Dr. Deb,” is a helicopter pilot, public speaker, health practitioner, best selling author and a doctor of naturopath, teaching an emphasis on Natural Hygiene and the raw-food lifestyle. She is an avid pursuer of preventative or alternative health methods for building a strong immune system.
For over ten years she was a facilitator for Stephen Covey’s courses “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” (which was the #1 most influential business book of the twentieth century), along with “First Things First,” and “Principle Centered Leadership.”
In business, Dr. Deb’s vast background and expertise included the building and selling of several financially successful businesses. She co-partnered the building of the largest real estate company in Virginia, along with several multi-million dollar corporations in title insurance, mortgage banking, storage unit facilities, apartments, aviation, real estate development, and the funding of hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to various charities.
When her business partner/husband contracted two forms of cancer and was given a diagnosis of three months to live, her career pursuits changed from “Professional Business Woman of the Year,” to the study of alternative medicine. Her studies and protocols gave her partner another seven years of passionate living while they traveled the world in search of a permanent “cure.” During these travels, they met River Mahay, a real-life Daniel Boone type character living in Alaska and she wrote the best selling book, “The Legend of River Mahay.”
Dr. Deb is also the author of, “Settling with Power, 3-Steps to Mastering Life,” a book written from a helicopter pilot and holistic perspective on achieving mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health and well-being. This book was on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC with the Whirly Girls International Women Helicopter Pilots, of which she is a member.
Her varied rich-personal life experiences included being a Step-Mom to 10 children while she raised two daughters of her own, who are now beautiful, highly effective, creative and contributing young women. Out of this blended family journey was born her first creative work, “For the Birds,” which is a short, colorful, animated picture book about the trials and blessings of raising children.
Dr. Deb’s passion has always been to help others become physically and emotionally healthy. Through her constant search to weed out the snake-oil-cures in pursuit of the “real deal,” she now has discovered and participates in ground breaking, scientific research published in www.pubmed.com and http://mangosteenmd.com regarding the healing properties of the mangosteen fruit, which she now uses to comfort and eliminate suffering in many fortunate individuals.
